Posted by Ryann Minkler on Dec 2, 2015 3:16:47 PM

December-events-in-the-Naples-area.jpgYou’ve probably already heard the reports of a few of the storms from up North that will be part of this year’s El Niño Stormzilla. But just because we don’t have to put up with the snow in the Naples area doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy winter and some holiday cheer of our own!

There are plenty of things to do in the Naples area this month, and the good news is that you don’t have to settle for the same old Santa and his reindeer stuff this holiday season. Here’s a look at just a few things going on around Naples in December.

Art, Spirituality and More

On Tuesday, Dec 8, 2015The Von Liebig Art Center, 585 Park St, (map) will be offering a lecture that brings together music, painting and dance called Art, Spirituality and More. Naples portraitist Jose Maria Castillo will explore how artistic expression clarifies relationships and delivers self-understanding by merging into a rhythm of healing transcendence. A wine and cheese reception begins at 5:30 p.m.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s Ladies Luncheon

You and your friends can join others on Thursday, Dec 10, 2015 at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, 280 Vanderbilt Beach Rd, (map) at 11 a.m. for a breakfast to benefit the Holocaust Museum and Education Center of Southwest Florida.

Critic’s Choice book club

Who doesn’t enjoy discussing a great book? Join others onSaturday, Dec 12, 2015 at 5833 Pelican Bay Blvd, (map) as the ever-popular Elaine Newton returns with an all-new Critic’s Choice book club, featuring contemporary literature’s most compelling works. This month’s topic is Euphoria by Lily King, at 10 a.m. at Hayes Hall, Artis-Naples.

Movies on the Lawn

Take your movie watching fun outside on Tuesday, Dec 15, 2015 at Mercato, Strada Place, (map). This event (which takes place on the third Tuesday of every month at sundown) has already seen showings of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 1; and The Wizard of Oz. On December 15 you can see Minions; and on January 19, To Kill a Mockingbird.

Champagne Tea Inspired by Downton Abbey

It’s OK to admit that you’ve seen every episode of Downton Abbey! Now you can pretend you’re there at a champagne tea on Saturday, Dec 19, 2015 at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, 280 Vanderbilt Beach Road(map). It begins at 4:30 p.m.

If you need a break from Santa, Rudolph and the elves, there are still plenty of things to do in and around Naples this holiday season!
